A Smart, Stylish Renovation for a Growing Family

From Cramped to Customized: A 100 Sq. Ft. Kitchen Makeover

When designer Susan Serra took on the renovation of a compact, closed-off kitchen for a young millennial couple she knew the space needed to work harder — and smarter. With a new baby, a new home, and a not-so-new kitchen measuring just 100 square feet, the couple dreamed of a warm, functional space that could grow with their family.

Susan’s solution was a complete transformation that brought light, flow, and modern functionality to every inch — anchored by Italian-made Verona Appliances.

Compact in Size, Big on Performance

Despite its small footprint, the kitchen had to support real cooking, entertaining, and daily life with a newborn. Susan selected a Verona 36” Induction Range in matte black for its professional features, beautiful proportions, and space-conscious design.

“It was the perfect solution for this project,” Susan noted. “It’s solid, smartly designed, and has that European quality you can feel and see — all at a price that makes sense for a young family.”

Paired with the Verona 36” Range Hood Insert, the range creates a seamless, high-functioning centerpiece without overpowering the room.

Designed with Heart and Style

To match Matt and Melanie’s modern, relaxed aesthetic, Susan balanced rich textures with a soft, calming palette: white oak cabinetry, warm marble countertops, and burnished brass fixtures. For just a little pop of color, Susan added soft-touch burgundy knobs to the Verona range. The result is a kitchen that feels open, intentional, and inviting — even in its compact footprint.

More than just a renovation, this kitchen was a reset: a space reimagined for real life, designed with care and craft to serve a growing family for years to come.

Verona Appliances is proud to be part of this meaningful project — a reminder that with the right design and the right appliances, even the smallest kitchens can be both beautiful and hard-working.
