Featured in Rue Magazine: A Warm, Functional Seattle Kitchen Centered Around Verona

A Builder-Grade Home Reimagined for Everyday Living

Just outside of Seattle in Shoreline, a once builder-grade home has been thoughtfully transformed into a warm, elevated kitchen designed around the rhythms of real family life.

Featured by Rue Magazine and brought to life by BB Meyer Design, this remarkable renovation reflects a growing shift in modern kitchen design, away from spaces that feel staged or untouchable, and toward kitchens that feel deeply personal, functional, and lived in.

For the homeowners, the project represented far more than a cosmetic update. After years of apartment living across multiple states, the couple was ready to create a home centered around connection, comfort, and longevity. What they found in this Shoreline property was potential: strong architectural bones paired with the opportunity to reimagine the heart of the home entirely.

Photography throughout the project was captured beautifully by Emily Keeney.

A Kitchen Designed Around How Families Actually Live

The original layout lacked flow and functional storage, anchored by an awkward peninsula that limited movement and disconnected the surrounding spaces.

BB Meyer Design approached the renovation with intentionality, focusing on how the family truly uses the kitchen day to day.

The redesign introduced:

  • A large central island to create a natural gathering point
  • Improved circulation and appliance placement
  • A custom pantry wall for streamlined storage
  • An integrated dining bar area for entertaining and everyday use
  • Thoughtful cabinetry solutions designed for growing family needs

Rather than designing solely for aesthetics, the space was shaped around rituals and routines — morning coffee, family dinners, storage needs, entertaining, and the natural movement of daily life.

That philosophy is evident in every detail.

Warmth Through Texture, Tone, and Materiality

To balance Seattle’s often gray climate, the design team leaned into a palette that feels soft, grounded, and welcoming.

Custom cabinetry painted in Sherwin-Williams Natural Linen creates warmth without heaviness, while Cambria Dovestone Quartz countertops and backsplash surfaces introduce subtle movement and texture throughout the space.

Open shelving, layered lighting, warm wood accents, and carefully curated materials all contribute to a kitchen that feels collected rather than overly polished.

The result is timeless without feeling formal — elevated yet approachable.

The Verona Prestige Series at the Center of the Kitchen

At the heart of the space sits the Verona Prestige Series 36-Inch Freestanding Double Oven Electric Range in Stainless Steel.

Designed and crafted in Italy, the range complements the project’s balance of warmth, performance, and practicality while anchoring the kitchen architecturally.

Featured Highlights

  • Double oven configuration for expanded cooking flexibility
  • Five radiant cooking elements
  • European convection technology
  • Professional-scale cooking capacity
  • Refined stainless steel finish
  • Crafted in Italy 🇮🇹

More than simply an appliance, the range becomes part of the room’s identity — supporting everyday cooking while reinforcing the timeless European character of the overall design.

This project beautifully reflects a core philosophy behind Verona Appliances

The kitchen is not just where meals are made.
It’s where life unfolds.

Elevated Design That Embraces Real Life

One of the most compelling aspects of this renovation is its emotional authenticity.

Nothing feels overly rigid or performative. Instead, the home embraces the beauty of everyday living — children growing up, routines evolving, guests gathering around the island, coffee poured in the early morning light.

That sense of warmth is what ultimately makes the project feel memorable.

It’s a reminder that the best kitchens are not designed solely to impress.

They are designed to support real life beautifully.
